Grenville College is located in a beautiful, safe part of the West Country, close to the sea and moors. Our Junior School and boarding houses are at Moreton, set in 40 acres of formal gardens and parkland.
Academic studies
Our aim is to ensure that all pupils fulfill their academic potential and take pride in achieving their best. A balanced curriculum is followed, with programmes of study arranged to suit individual needs. Personal tutors monitor closely the progress of the small group of pupils in their care, helping each child to formulate targets that lead to self-motivation and fulfillment. There is a clear framework of discipline and positive expectations of high standards. Parents receive regular progress checks, as well as termly reports.
Sporting and extra curricular activities
The College has a long and impressive record of success in competitions across an extensive range of traditional sports. Excellent facilities, combined with talented, motivated staff, mean that every child is given the opportunity to succeed in sport and to develop active, lifelong leisure interests. This is also true of the more than 60 different extra curricular activities available to pupils, ranging from astronomy to contemporary dance. Grenville is one of the few schools in southwest England to have a thriving rowing club.
Boarding
The boarding houses are at Moreton: Scott House and Crabbe House for boys, and York House for girls. Boarders learn personal responsibility and self-discipline within the friendly, homely atmosphere. Houses are well equipped to meet social and recreational needs, as well as to provide a range of home comforts. Weekend activities are planned to cover a wide spectrum of interests, taking particular advantage of the superb natural surroundings.
Grenville is fortunate in having a small number of overseas children among its pupils, who play an active part in the life of the College. Coming to a new school – changing country, culture and educational system – can be daunting. Recognising this, the College seeks to ease the process through its effective pastoral care system. House staff give unstintingly of their time to help and support the children in their care.
We are committed to fostering a lasting sense of
responsibility, respect and consideration for others.
