Reputation
Tucked away in the picturesque Tong Valley between Leeds and Bradford, Fulneck School has a growing reputation for both academic achievement and the quality of pastoral care available to its children. Small class sizes, with support for individuals of a wide range of abilities, typifies Fulneck’s approach to all-round education.
Our Christian ethos underpins all that we do. Children are treated as individuals, and their particular talents are recognised and promoted. Courtesy, respect and tolerance for others are keystones of our philosophy. Families of all faiths are welcome and many choose Fulneck for its moral values. With excellent GCSE pass rates and an A-level pass rate of 100% (2003 and 2004), it was no surprise to see Fulneck listed in The Times Top 500 Independent Schools.
Curriculum
The broad curriculum is constantly being monitored to ensure that it meets the academic needs of our pupils and the demands of the modern world. It is our aim that by the age of 11, every Junior School child has been introduced to a foreign language, played a musical instrument, joined in a sporting activity, performed on stage and made significant academic progress. These achievements and opportunities are carried forward into the Senior School where recent additions to our range of subjects include ICT, business, politics, psychology and physical education. Overseas students are able to take advantage of our EFL facilities. Excellent opportunities in music, sport and a wide range of extracurricular activities complement the academic strengths of the School.
Facilities
Facilities are constantly being upgraded. These include four modern ICT suites, Junior and Senior libraries, refurbished sixth form centre, gymnasia, art studio, theatre, and music facilities. Our learning support unit is widely acclaimed in supporting dyslexic students. It has been awarded the highest standard in its recent CReSTeD inspection.
Boarding
There is a small but thriving boarding community at Fulneck. The boarding houses are run by qualified, caring staff who understand the needs of pupils who are away from their families, and aim to make them feel at home in safe and secure surroundings. There is a strong welfare structure, supervised homework sessions and a range of organised activities throughout the week and at weekends.
Scholarships
Two annual academic scholarships (excluding boarding fees) worth 25% each are available to overseas students. Applicants should specify an interest in the scholarship with their enquiries.
High quality educational opportunities and
experiences in an environment of Christian care.
