Bromsgrove School, founded in 1553, is one of the original 14 members of the Headmasters’ and Headmistresses’ Conference. This ancient school is caring and welcoming, but academic standards and expectations are very high. Flair and rigour exist side by side. Teaching is demanding and pupils are expected to work hard; performances are monitored closely. Excellence in sports and the arts is also expected and achieved. Bromsgrove’s history inspires but never overawes aspiration: the School is at the vanguard of education.
Bromsgrove Senior School caters for 750 pupils between the ages of 13 and 18, with a teacher/pupil ratio of 1:9. There is a strong feeling of family within the school, strengthened by the house system, which enables an individual to identify with a smaller unit. People always come before systems; the happiness of pupils is paramount.
Scholarships and bursaries
Many scholarships and exhibitions are available for the academically and musically gifted. There are bursaries for good all-rounders or those with talent in specific areas. Generous bursaries for children of those serving in the Armed Forces are also available.
Facilities and developments
The last ten years have seen over £20 million invested in buildings. Nearly one-quarter of that sum has been spent on one hundred new en-suite rooms. These have joined state-of-the-art, architecturally striking facilities. A humanities block, art, design and technology centre, library and significant sports developments have spearheaded the build in the new era. IT has received significant investment and the pupils enjoy up-to-the-minute technology. In 2005, Bromsgrove International School Thailand opened in Bangkok.
Location
The School is located 15 miles from both Birmingham and Worcester and has easy access to the motorway network and Birmingham International Airport and railway station.
