Bradfield College
The School
Founded in 1850, Bradfield College is one of the leading independent boarding schools in the south of England. The College accepts boys and girls from 13 to 18.
Set in its own village, with grounds extending to some 200 acres, Bradfield is easily reached by road via the M4 and by rail through Reading, and is well placed for access to Heathrow and Gatwick airports.
Aims
Bradfield is a school with many fine qualities, but without doubt the most important is the recognition that your son or daughter receives as a unique and valued individual. You, the parents, are closely involved with us as we meet the distinctive needs of your child together.
This emphasis on pastoral care, and on a sense of partnership between staff and pupils and between school and home, is balanced with our commitment to achieving excellence in academic, cultural and sporting pursuits.
Boarding
Students live in boarding houses where they are looked after by a housemaster or housemistress, matron and a team of tutors drawn from the teaching staff.
Almost all teaching staff live within the College, enabling ease of access when students require assistance out of class time.
Every student has a personal tutor, who monitors both the student’s academic and personal development and is a source of guidance throughout a student’s time at the School.
Academic
Bradfield is proud of its academic record. The College aims to create an environment in which each student is able to fulfill his or her academic potential. For many pupils this involves achieving academic excellence. Almost all students go on to university after leaving Bradfield, and Oxford and Cambridge are among the most popular places of study.
Academic and music scholarships of between 10% and 50% of full fees may be awarded on the results of the scholarship examination. Bradfield Exhibitions and Art and Design Awards are also available.
Bradfield’s aim is that each student should achieve
his or her full potential in an atmosphere of high
expectation, supported by constant encouragement.
