Welcome
I am delighted to be the Headmaster of Bloxham, which is often described as one of Britain’s best smaller schools. Small we may be, but a visit here will prove to you that we have facilities to match most larger schools and we punch far above our weight in areas such as academic value-added, sport, design and information technologies, art and music. Above all, we are a happy school where your sons and daughters will be well cared for. Our School is built around a strong and supportive pastoral and tutorial system which creates an environment where our pupils expect to do well – and they usually do! The normal points of entry are at 11+, 13+ and sixth form, although interim entry will be considered.
Pastoral
Bloxham offers a supportive, caring and friendly co-educational environment where those with talent in any area are encouraged to contribute and excel. The School is predominantly boarding, but with a strong day cohort. Weekly boarding is available to the Lower School pupils.
Academic life
Bloxham attaches great importance to academic quality and success. A wide range of GCSE and A-/AS-level courses are offered. Ninety-eight per cent of pupils go on to university after Bloxham. A new library will open in January 2006. This exciting and major new building will feature full ICT capabilities and will foster independent learning skills, and to this end all fourth-formers are given a laptop computer by the School.
Facilities
The School enjoys some superb facilities across a wide range of interests. Our entire campus is networked via wireless technology, and our Raymond Technology Centre continues to inspire young designers and engineers. Sport too is well catered for, with a second artificial hockey field opened last year near our sports centre and fitness suite. A dance studio and more space for our hugely successful art and music departments are also planned for 2006.
Visits
We hold open days in the Autumn and Spring but much prefer to welcome you here on a normal working day, when you can spend some time viewing our campus and spend time with me discussing individual needs and interests.
Mark Allbrook – Headmaster
A conspicuously happy school.
