Bishop’s Stortford College is a co-educational boarding and day school situated on the edge of a delightful country town midway between central London and Cambridge. It is well positioned for easy access to airports and road and rail links, with London Stansted Airport just a ten-minute journey away. Set in a beautifully spacious 130-acre campus with superb facilities, Bishop’s Stortford College is large enough to provide an exceptional range of opportunities, yet small enough for individuals to feel known and valued.
The Junior School
Our Junior School offers day schooling for pupils from 4 years of age, and day and boarding for those between 7 and 13 years. It has its own distinctive learning environment, but, as part of the wider school community sharing the same campus, the Junior School offers a greater range of facilities, teaching resources and opportunities than is typical of most schools for this age group. Pupils are well prepared for entry into our Senior School at 13+, ensuring a smooth transition.
Boarding and the Stortford houses
Belonging to one of our Stortford houses is a major part of life for all senior pupils and Junior School boarders. Each house has an incredibly strong sense of community, with an emphasis on co-operation, responsibility, independence and mutual respect. The diversity of backgrounds and nationalities expands horizons and enriches all those within the College community.
Academic – an appetite for learning
At Bishop’s Stortford College, small classes and our focus on the individual mean that every pupil receives the time and attention to develop the confidence and desire to learn. Whether a high-flier or of more moderate ability, every pupil is encouraged, taught and challenged to fulfill his or her true potential across a broad curriculum. Imaginative and skilled teaching fosters a love of learning and underpins our strong academic record.
Joy in breadth and balance
Whilst academic study is our priority, we believe passionately in the value of an all-round education, and, to this end, life at Bishop’s Stortford College is packed with opportunities outside the classroom. The diversity of choice is exceptional. Our dynamic and innovative centres for music, art and drama are well resourced, and we enjoy a successful record and reputation in sport.
